An action-adventure thriller game created by Dino Games - an independent Russian developer. The game is set in three parallel worlds and decisions made in one affect developments in the other two. The plot is non-linear - the course of events is largely dependent on the player's actions.
Without Memory for PS4 is an action-adventure thriller game developed by an independent Russian studio known as Dino Games. The creators were inspired by such classics as Heavy Rain or Beyond: Two Souls – these are popular for incorporating cinematic principles and techniques into gameplay.
The story begins when a cop that lives in a dystopian country – Leo Evans, returns home after work. When he reaches his place, he meets law enforcement officers who inform him about his wife being suspected of her alleged membership in a terrorist group known as the Insiders. The woman gets captured and brought to the Animatorium, which is a futuristic prison. Here, the officers are intending to modify the woman's consciousness. The protagonist decides to oppose the totalitarian system and joins the resistance. In so doing, Leo gets involved in a larger intrigue, discovering that the entire problem is rooted beyond reality as he perceives it. In similarity to the aforementioned Heavy Rain, Without Memory for PS4 places different challenges in front of the player. The action is viewed from various cinematic perspectives that are supposed to highlight the meanings of particular scenes or the importance of characters present. Exploration, puzzle solving and having conversations are all at the core of this experience. The game features Quick Time Events (when the player is required to make a choice within a limited amount of time), as well as stealth-action sequences. Interestingly, when the player gets spotted, the game does not end – the course of the story is, however, affected.
Without Memory for PS4 utilizes the Unreal Engine 4. The game's high-quality 3D visuals were crafted with care, though the game was developed by an independent studio. What stands out here above all, is diversity of facial expressions, as well as the quality of the character animations created using motion capture techniques. The game uses unique capabilities of PlayStation 4 and its DualShock 4 gamepad – most notably, support for the touchscreen was included. For instance, the player interacts with different objects through drawing adequate signs on the touchscreen.
