An action-adventure game, developed by LoreVault studio, belonging to the Nexon company. Woochi the Wayfarer takes us to Korea from the alternative version of the Joseon era. We play as the titular character, a mage with a sword who hunts monsters.
The Tale of Jeon Woochi is a South Korean novel drawing from local folklore, whose main character is a magician using his supernatural abilities to fight injustice.
Developers from LoreVault studio, which belongs to Nexon company, decided to base their adventure action game titled Woochi the Wayfarer on it. Their work is not a faithful adaptation. Suffice it to say that the titular hero is a monster slayer who eliminates hordes of demonic creatures in an alternative version of the Joseon era. Although the main character uses magic, he handles himself perfectly in combat as well, making use of a sword.
While working on this production, the developers collaborated with experts in Korean tradition and literature, and also traveled to culturally significant places in South Korea to find inspiration for the locations designed for the game.
The game operates on the Unreal Engine 5, while its soundtrack was composed by Jung Jae-il, whose music can be heard in the movie Parasite and the TV series Squid Game.
