The Witness (X360)
A first-person adventure game with logic puzzles, developed by the creator of Braid – Jonathan Blow and his independent studio Number None. The game takes you to a large, mysterious island, whose all inhabitants vanished without a trace. Gameplay has you explore this vast world, solve logic puzzles, and search for clues that will help you solve the mysteries of this place. Game mechanics resemble the cult Myst series. As you play, you have to display remarkable patience, observance, and the ability to connect different pieces of the story. Many things here have secret meanings, and the key symbols, hints, and markings were cleverly hidden within the game’s environment. The Witness features simple, but charming, 3D graphics and supports the virtual reality headset Oculus Rift.
Dead Space Ignition (X360)
Logic 13 October 2010
A spin-off installment in the Dead Space survival horror series which combines elements of logic games and interactive comics. Anthony Johnson, the author of the comic books that accompanied the launch of the original Dead Space, was involved in the title’s production. The game is a prequel to Dead Space 2 and its action is set on the colony of Sprawl, several hours before Isaac Clarke’s arrival. On the pages of the comic we learn the details concerning the epidemic that turned the inhabitants of the mining complex into bloodthirsty necromorphs. This lets us expand our knowledge of the Dead Space universe and gives the series’ plot a deeper meaning. The gameplay in Dead Space Ignition is a chain of hacking sequences in the form of three mini-games: Hardware Crack, Trace Router, and System Override. Moreover, from time to time, we are forced to choose our course of action; these decisions will shape the fate of the protagonist.
Logic 03 March 2015
A unique simulation game, in which you construct increasingly wacky rollercoasters, and then test them on thrill-seeking people. The game was created by Frontier Development, known for e.g. the latest installment in the Zoo Tycoon and the Thrillville and Rollercoaster Tycoon series. Unlike the latter one, ScreamRide does not feature an economic aspect, and your actions serve science and research on the limits of human beings. The gameplay focuses on completing a series of tasks, in which the key is the fear and scream level among the people riding your rollercoaster. You can also test your tracks yourself, by steering the rollercoaster in the arcade mode. The game features fully destructible environment and advanced physics, apparent in e.g. the spectacular results of your less successful experiments.
