A remastered version of an action RPG YS: The Oath in Felghana. Ys Memoire: The Oath in Felghana tells the story of Adol Christin, traversing the land of Felghana to restore it to greatness along with his friend Dogi.
Ys Memoire: The Oath in Felghana is a remastered version of Ys: The Oath in Felghana, an action RPG from 2005, which itself was a remake of Ys III: Wanderers From Ys from 1989. The game was developed by Falcom, the company overseeing the franchise.
The main character of Ys Memoire: The Oath in Felghana is Adol Christin, who returns to the eponymous Felghana accompanied by his friend Dogi, arriving to the village of Redmont. As it turns out, the place has changed beyond recognition during their absense. Monsters prowl the land, the nearby volcano is once again active, with the realm itself being oppressed by a tyrant. Adol and Dogi have no choice but to get to work and restore Felghana to its former glory.
The gameplay in Ys Memoire: The Oath in Felghana is shown from the top-down perspective. The player traverses the world, completes various quests and often battles enemies. Combat is dynamic, the key to success being constant movement, skillful use of special attacks and executing combos effectively. In addition to regular foes we'll also face powerful bosses. Progressing lets us develop our character, his new abilities letting him face greater challenges and reach previously inaccessible places.
During their work on Ys Memoire: The Oath in Felghana, the developers mostly focused on the game's audiovisual side. The graphics have been improved, the characters received new portraits, the main protagonist's voice lines have been voiced and the soundtrack is now of a higher quality. In addition, the player can now choose the playable character's speed.

TheGamer: 3.5 / 5 by Hilton Webster
It has all the basic ingredients you need, without any of the extra spices. It’s nothing fancy, but it’s comforting. It wants you to sit back and enjoy the experience, savouring every drop of its familiar flavour.

As a remaster, Ys Memoire: The Oath in Felghana is subtly slick and exactly what it needed to be. While it doesn’t necessarily improve my thoughts on The Oath in Felghana foundationally, it is the best version that you can buy. It looks sharp, runs great, and additions like new artwork and narration for Adol help to further uplift the story. That said, it’s difficult to overstress that these additions don’t fix the game’s problems, nor was that necessarily the point. It still has an anemic story and a noticeably weak first half. Frustrations like poor hitboxes and a smattering of horrible bosses also still remain. While it does have good pacing, I’m also left with the sense that a lot of its gameplay elements aren’t able to fully breathe. To its credit, it comes together quite admirably during its climax and in a few instances offers up some of the most memorable encounters in the series. Once it gets good, it stays good, but the aforementioned problems leave me weary of the prospect of playing it again in the future. Fun for the one time, but ultimately not what I would call a favorite despite its strengths.

Ys Memoire: The Oath in Felghana was clearly designed to bring the remake of the third entry in the Falcom series to modern consoles, and in this regard, it fully succeeds. The game delivers a fast-paced, no-frills experience that remains engaging from start to finish, enhanced by new features, improved visuals and quality-of-life improvements. However, compared to more recent entries in the series, Ys Memoire: The Oath in Felghana is a more straightforward game with a relatively simple story and combat system, which may not appeal to those who were introduced to the series through its modern installments.
