Exploration of the world and catching Foundables and finding Traces are one of the most basic mechanics of Harry Potter: Wizards Unite. The number of Traces in the area depends on various factors - the environment, time of day, and weather. If you want to find interesting Traces regardless of weather and time of day, you need a Dark Detector.

How to get a Dark Detector?

Dark Detectors can be acquired in multiple ways. If you don't want to wait, you can buy them in the microtransactions shop. They are sold separately or in a pack with other items.

You can also get Dark Detectors as a daily log in reward.

Dark Detectors can also appear as rewards for Wizarding Challenges, catching an enemy, or opening a Portkey Portmanteaus.

How to use a Dark Detector?

Place a Dark Detector in the Inn, in the special spot. You can place up to three of them. Each Dark Detector lasts thirty minutes.

The more Dark Detectors you place, the better they are at detecting Foundables.

How does a Dark Detector work?

Dark Detectors spawn increase the spawn rate of stronger and rarer Foundables. Thanks to this item, you can develop your character faster and get entries in your registry.

Is my Dark Detector affecting other players?

Dark Detectors left in the Inn affect all players in the area. If you leave only one Dark Detector, another player will be able to leave theirs. Thanks to that, their strength will increase.

If a given Inn has three Dark Detectors, it will glow on the world map.
