Full Version of Baldur's Gate 3 Most Likely Only in 2022

Head of Larian said that the team still has a lot of work to do before Baldur's Gate 3 reaches version 1.0, so it's possible that the game will leave early access only in 2022.

Baldur's Gate III debuted in early access in October 2020. Fans were hoping for the 1.0 version to be released this year, but a recent interview with the head of Larian suggests that we'll wait until 2022 for the full release.

In an interview with Destructoid, CEO Swen Vincke admitted that there is still a lot of work ahead of the developers. The team has not yet developed the elements of the final stages of the game. He assured that the work is progressing at a good pace and the team knows what to do and how, but from his statements it seems that the release of version 1.0 is far away.

It should be noted that a release as late as 2022 would not be a delay, as Lariano never stated how long the game would remain in Early Access. Fans were expecting a release this year due to the fact that the team's previous games had relatively short Early Access periods. In the case of Divinity: Original Sin it was just five months, and with Divinity: Original Sin II players waited a year. Baldur's Gate 3 , however, is by far the developer's biggest and most ambitious production, and the pandemic situation doesn't make things any easier. So it wouldn't be surprising if the 1.0 release doesn't come out until 2022.

In the interview, Swen Vincke also praised the analytical tools that the studio built after the success of Divinity: Original Sin II. They make the developers' job easier by providing accurate data on how players are playing Baldur's Gate III. This enables them not only to adjust the gameplay mechanics to the preferences of the community, but also affects the development of the story. The devs are able to find, for example, plot choices that are completely ignored by players in favor of other decisions. Then they have to wonder if they presented alternative actions well and if it should not be somehow modified.

Baldur's Gate 3 debuted in Steam Early Access on October 6. last year. Currently the game is available only on PC and in Google Stadia.
