Baldur's Gate 3 Will Let Us Respec More Than Our Character

The release of Baldur's Gate 3 is just around the corner. On this occasion, developers from Larian shared a range of information related to the game. Among them were details related to character respecs.

The release of Baldur's Gate 3 is less than 2 days away. Larian Studios does not stop in building tension, every now and then presenting new information related to the eagerly awaited title. In a recent community post on Steam, the Belgian developers shared news regarding, among other things: character respec, romance options, as well as voice actors appearing in the game.

Resetting the team

Players have known about the possibility of respecing their character for some time. However, as Larian Studios's recent post reminded and confirmed, the same option will also be available for other party members.

Respec will allow not only for a reset of the character's stats, but also complete change of a character's class. Importantly, this option will also be available for predefined heroes with their own history (so-called Origin Characters).

However, the developers warn that such major changes will entail a number of consequences that will potentially affect the course of the story.

"Remember that some stories are closely tied to the classes of their characters. If you choose a non-Cleric Shadowheart or a Wyll without a Sorcerer's Pact, this will undoubtedly affect the dialogue options and the overall narrative of these characters."

The presence of a very open-ended respec option, however, is expected to enable us to tailor our dream party to our individual play style.. It will also help avoid the frustration stemming from a poorly run build.

Romance options

The romance options between characters, announced some time ago, have also been clarified. Larian has clearly illustrated, which character will be able to enter relationships.

  1. The player character can romance a character controlled by the computer.
  2. It will be impossible to have a romance option between two AI-controlled characters.
  3. Similarly, it will be unavailable to establish a love relationship between two player-controlled characters.

Although the system is designed to operate only in the "player-NPC" line, it will offer a great deal of variety in itself. The player will be able to decide the degree of commitment to the relationship, as well as whether to abandon it in favor of another relationship.. Polyamory options are also to be available in specific cases.

Voices of Forgotten Lands

A separate mention has also been made of the notable voice actors that will be heard while playing with Baldur's Gate 3. Short footage presented a behind-the-scenes look at the work of Maggie Robertson, who will play the role of the sinister shapeshifter Orin.

In addition to Robertson, the post mentions the involvement of other artists such as Vinegar Strokes in the role of Lucretious, and Sophia Nomvete as Captain Grisly.

The final stretch

As a reminder: Baldur's Gate 3 will debut on August 3, which is this Thursday. The game will be made available at approximately 5 p.m. CET.

The game will be released first on PC, and a month later (September 6) it will hit the PlayStation 5 console.
