Cities: Skylines II had a disastrous premiere. Devs at Colossal Order studio have been working for months to improve the technical state of the game by releasing necessary patches, while also focusing on delivering new content. Earlier this week, they released the official strategy modding tools and their first paid DLC, Beach Properties. Both novelties were received very poorly by the fans.

The Beach Properties bundle is currently the worst-rated product on Steam (as noticed by PCGamnesN). Only 4% of the reviews for this DLC are positive, out of over 800 reviews. The package priced at $9.99, which is also part of the Ultimate edition of the game and the Expansion Pass, has been received as "overwhelmingly negative" (as categorized by Valve's platform) mainly due to its limited content.

Players complain that the DLC introduces "generic" buildings, which don't reflect the subject of the bundle, and only 4 trees - which they see as a sign of the devs' "laziness." The lack of any activities or beaches in Beach Properties is considered by some CS 2 fans as a "money grab." Releasing such a modest expansion has even become a subject of open mockery from the community.

Criticism also didn't spare the aforementioned modding tools. These simply don't work for many players. Let's add that the based Cities: Skylines II currently has 55% positive reviews on Steam, and their average from the last 30 days is even lower (72% negative). Many fans have already given up hope that the Colossal Order studio will improve the state of the strategy to a satisfactory level - at least in the near future.

Overwatch 2 is one of the games with the lowest ratings on Steam, with only 17% of over 250,000 reviews being positive. So, for the DLC of Cities: Skylines II to surpass this result is quite an "achievement."
