Cities: Skylines follows HoI4 and EU4 and receive a paid subscription. First and second installments of the city builder also gets some new features

Paradox Interactive celebrates the 10th anniversary of Cities: Skylines release. On this occasion, until the end of the month, both the first and second installment of the series will receive a lot of new content, and the players themselves will have the opportunity to check out the 2015 hit for free.

The developers also expressed their annual thanks to the community in the form of a several-minute-long video. You can watch it below.

Cities: Skylines 2 will soon receive fresh content...

Fresh content will first hit Cities: Skylines II - as soon as March 18, 2025. On that day, fans of Colossal Order studio's strategy will receive:

1. special patch containing 10 free assets. Some depict Chirper himself, the symbol of Cities: Skylines;
2. 3 new radio stations;
3. the "Dragon Gate" package prepared by Emperor Li, which will introduce elements of Chinese culture;
4. the "Leisure Venues" package developed by Gruny, which will add many entertainment venues;
5. the "Mediterranean Heritage" package by Zarrix, adding buildings characteristic of Mediterranean countries;
6. an update that will deliver another batch of new content.

...just like Cities: Skylines

As for Cities: Skylines, the new features will arrive on March 25, 2025. Among them will be:

1. patch adding 3 parks;
2. the "Emerging Downtown" package prepared by Smilies, introducing various buildings - from older to modern ones;
3. the "Countryside" package created by Cbudd, intended to add a bit of rural atmosphere to CS;
4. new radio tower.

Moreover, Cities: Skylines will be available for free on Steam from March 20-24, 2025. The devs also informed that a paid subscription will be introduced for this game, thanks to which players will gain access to the latest expansions and patches. According to the revealed information, the subscription will go on sale on March 13 at 9:00 a.m. PT. Then we should also know its price.

Paradox offers similar subscriptions for games such as Europa Universalis 4 or Hearts of Iron 4.
