Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II recorded a strong debut on Steam. The game quadrupled the series' previous activity record on the website.
The final activity record of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II on Steam for the weekend was 263,174 people logged in simultaneously. This enabled Infinity Ward's game to jump into the top 5 most popular games of the platform.
Yesterday saw the launch of the full version of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II (those with preorders had access to the campaign a week earlier). It is already known that the game's debut on PC was a great success (via VG247).
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II's results clearly show that the decision to return the brand to Steam was the correct one. The game is helped by the fact that the release on this platform runs standalone and does not require the simultaneous launch of the Battle.net client.
The game is immensely popular despite its not entirely enthusiastic reception. On Steam only 53% of user reviews praise Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II, which is categorized as "mixed" reception. Players mainly complain about the poor technical condition, but, as you can see from the activity results, most of them grit their teeth and continue playing.
Recall that beyond PC Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is also available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S consoles.
