Cult of the Lamb is a game in which the player takes on the role of the leader of their cult, which they must properly manage by constructing the necessary buildings, taking care of the followers and gaining resources on various expeditions. Recently, a new patch made its debut for this game (Sins of the Flesh), which, among other things, added more quests related to Sozo. The problem is that one of them is most likely bugged, as the seed you get from him is eaten by birds...

Update: According to the recent update patch notes, if you happen to loose Sozo Seed/Mushroom, you should get it back after the next game load
Sozo is an NPC who is located in the Spore Grotto. He is a mushroom specialist and is available when you visit Mushroomos in Anura. After completing all the tasks that involve handing him 20 Menticide Mushrooms, you will find that Sozo is dead when you return to him after some time. From his body, you will be able to collect Sozo Mushroom and plant it in your place of worship.
The problem, however, is that after you plant the seed, there is a good chance that it will simply disappear. Why does this happen? Mainly because of a bug related to birds. They can fly to your village and simply eat the seed, causing it to permanently disappear.
Unfortunately, at this point there is no sure solution to bypass this issue. You can try planting the seed close to the scarecrow so that it is within its range. The developers themselves are aware of this problem and are currently working on a solution, so you should, for the time being, be patient.
