Last November, it was announced that Baldur's Gate 3 - previously available only in digital distribution - will be released physically. The boxed version of the RPG for the PlayStation 5 console was supposed to fit on two discs, and the edition for the Xbox Series X - on three. Since then, the release planned for the Microsoft platform has somewhat "swelled."

The director of publishing at Larian Studios, Michael Douse, announced that the physical version of Baldur's Gate 3 coming to XSX will include as many as four discs. The dev noticed that the size of the game has increased by 500 MB, so it won't fit on three discs, and the studio doesn't intend to cut any content.

Douse also reported that this change may result in a slight delay in getting the first wave of BG3 into the customer's hands. Larian Studios has already prepared for this possibility by offering a broad range of shipping options.

It's probable the wave 1 March 25 date will slip to first week of April because of this, but we'll start shipping each SKU in order of readiness. PC first. No discs makes life easy. 4 discs, hard! -- Douse explained in the next post.

Players who have pre-ordered the physical version of Baldur's Gate 3 have no option but to arm themselves with patience and await delivery.
