If you were captivated by gloomy, dark and dire world creation of Dark and Darker, there were not many alternatives. It was only a matter of time till there were new games echoing the idea of unforgivable dungeon crawling. Such a title is Dungeonborne. Even though the latter may seem like a simple copy, there is a lot more to it. What is more, there is nothing stopping you from testing the new production… or is there? Sometimes the game crashes unexpectedly on startup throwing fatal error for certain players. What may be causing that? How to solve it? Fret not, we’re here to help.

Dungeonborne fix for startup crash

Dungeonborne is an interesting alternative for the already quite popular Dark and Darker. It is no mere copy though, as it adds its own ideas into the mix. Why not try it out? Well, because it can throw fatal errors on launch or soon after. The solution for those, however, can be quite simple and painless to implement. There can be different things causing this problem, but all of them are simple to fix. Below you will find several possible remedies:

  1. Make sure to disable all third-party overlay applications like MSI Afterburner, Nvidia Shadowplay or others. For some reason, the current version of the game does not fare well with those addons.
  2. Dungeonborne is using Unreal Engine 5, which is still rough around the edges. Enforcing use of DirectX 11 (by adding -DX11 to launch options) can solve the issue.
  3. Some players claim that launching the game directly from the executable file with administrator rights fixes the crashing problem for them.

As always, bear in mind that currently Dungeonborne is not even in Early Access yet. The title is still under development, and it is in playtest phase. Due to that many unexpected difficulties may occur. In fact, they are expected to happen, so the creators can catch them before releasing the full game to the public. We have to brace ourselves with patience and keep our fingers crossed for this new dungeon crawling production.
