Escape from Tarkov and EFT Arena set to fully launch in 2025 and hit Steam. Now everyone’s wondering how the BSG account transfer will work

After over 7 years in closed beta, Escape from Tarkov is finally nearing its 1.0 launch and Steam release. There are still many questions, and the answers might not be what we're hoping for.

During a recent livestream, Battlestate Games revealed their 2025 roadmap for Escape from Tarkov. Looks like we're getting some juicy updates every month before the full game finally drops later this year. But how will the BSG account migration to Steam work?

Escape from Tarkov 1.0 update is coming to Steam

Escape from Tarkov has been in closed beta for over 7 years now, but somehow it’s still going strong. The game’s brutal realism and hardcore mechanics have helped it build a dedicated community that’s stuck around – even through slow updates, cheater problems, and the recent drama over monetization with the Edge of Darkness and Unheard Editions.

Battlestate Games released the Unheard Edition for $250, which included exclusive access to a new PvE mode with progression, larger inventory, and other perks. This sparked massive backlash, as many players, especially those who previously bought the $150 Edge of Darkness (EoD) edition, felt betrayed. They were promised free access to future DLC, but the devs argued the PvE mode was a “feature,” not DLC.

Now both Escape from Tarkov and Tarkov Arena finally have a 1.0 release on the horizon. But we still don’t have an exact date, not even a specific month. What we do have is a roadmap promising new patches every month from May through August 2025.

According to Pestily’s Youtube video, we should hear more about the 1.0 release date by the end of June. Tarkov Arena is expected to drop on Steam pretty soon, but Escape from Tarkov and PvE mode won’t land on Steam until after the 1.0 update, and once again, there’s still no exact date for that.

On the other side, a lot of players are wondering how they’ll actually transfer their copy of Escape from Tarkov to Steam. Some are hoping for a migration code sent to their email or something like that, but realistically speaking, it'll probably just be Battlestate's launcher through Steam. It’s the easiest option, after all. So until the game officially lands on Valve’s platform, we’re all just guessing.

Been with gamepressure.com since 2019, mostly writing game guides but you can also find me geeking out about LEGO (huge collection, btw). Love RPGs and classic RTSs, also adore quirky indie games. Even with a ton of games, sometimes I just gotta fire up Harvest Moon, Stardew Valley, KOTOR, or Baldur's Gate 2 (Shadows of Amn, the OG, not that Throne of Bhaal stuff). When I'm not gaming, I'm probably painting miniatures or admiring my collection of retro consoles.
