„I want to truly break that boundary.” Solo Leveling season 3 is expected to aim for Dragon Ball, Naruto and One Piece level

The producer of Solo Leveling confessed that this series is still not at the forefront of anime; however, if a 3rd season is created, he intends to change that.

Although Solo Leveling can be called a global hit, popular in many corners of the world, there is at least one country where the anime did not make a big splash. That country is Japan. The producer of the anime, Atsushi Kaneko, was surprised as to how enthusiastically the world reacted to Solo Leveling, which contrasted with the average reception in Japan.

However, it seems that the team responsible for the anime intends to do something about it. During a conversation with Screen Rant, Kaneko confessed that if they get the green light for Solo Leveling season 3, they plan a break through in Japan, to make the anime a hit just like Dragon Ball, Naruto or One Piece.

While thrilled with the response, I personally don't feel like the series is known by everyone at this point. Solo Leveling isn't as universally recognized in Japan yet. As a Japanese person living in Japan, the anime is not at the level of Dragon Ball, One Piece, or Naruto. But if season three happens, that’s when I want to truly break that boundary.

The creators of Solo Leveling have greatly ambitious plans. They want to earn their place among the most iconic anime of all time and go down in history, alongside the works of Akira Toriyama, Masashi Kishimoto, and Eiichiro Oda.

The team responsible for the anime is aiming high, but their goal may indeed be within their reach. Solo Leveling has quickly gained considerable publicity, becoming a true phenomenon. The brand is already recognized all over the world, and further forays into this universe could consolidate the series' position. The game Solo Leveling: Arise Overdrive is set to be released this year and Netflix has announced a live action adaptation starring Byeon Woo-seok.
