Killzone 5 reportedly in the works

What may Guerilla Games be up to after completing Horizon: Zero Dawn? Gettting to work on the next Killzone, of course. At least that's what a leading Amsterdam newspaper claims.

Killzone is one of the most important brands in Sony’s video game publishing catalogue, so no one expected Killzone: Shadow Fall (a.k.a Killzone 4) to be the last one in the series. Still, it’s exciting to hear the first rumors about the new installment. Such rumors have recently come from a leading Dutch online tabloid Parool.nl (thanks, PlayStation Universe). In a story about the closing of Guerilla Games’s Cambridge Studio from January 14, 2017, the newspaper plainly stated that having finalized the development of Horizon: Zero Dawn the producer is currently working on the next Killzone game.

Killzone is Guerilla Games’ most recognizable franchise, but with Horizon: Zero Dawn they proved they can handle a new IP as well.

You’re probably wondering now how reliable this source is, and so are we. But as PSU rightly notes, both the newspaper and Guerilla Games are based in Amsterdam, so it is quite possible that the editors actually had an honest conversation with the developers.

Guerilla’s most recent game is Horizon: Zero Dawn, a beautiful post-apocalyptic action game with open world and strong RPG elements. So far, the reviews have been mostly very enthusiastic – its current Metascore is 88 (it’s got several 100 notes). PlayStation 4 players will get to try out the game themselves on February 28.
