Less than three weeks separates us from the launch of Mortal Kombat 11, the next installment of one of the most popular fighting game series. Those waiting for the title should be interested in an interview for Game Informer, given by the head of NetherRealm, Ed Boon. Thanks to this we learned a lot of new information about the project.

Gamers should be pleased to know that Mortal Kombat 11 will feature no lootboxes. The game will debut with 25 characters. After the release of all DLCs, this number will be increase to 34. While the game will not offer cross-play on the day of the release, the creators believe such option to be possible in the future.

The story mode of Mortal Kombat 11 will offer several alternative endings. There will be no Quick Time Event sequences. In addition, Ed Boon has ensured that the Nintendo Switch version of the game will work at 60 frames per second.

The interview also included plans for the future. We learned that Disney has debated developing a fighting game featuring the heroes of Marvel and DC universes. For the time being, however, it is not known whether anything will come from it. In addition, the script for the next film adaptation of Mortal Kombat is ready, but Boon said that he will stop the project if it is not of high enough quality.

We also learned that Mortal Kombat X sold almost 11 million copies, making it the biggest bestseller in Ed Boon's career. The creator also revealed that Neo from the Matrix film series was considered as a character in Injustice 2. Eventually, nothing came out of it. The character will not make an appearance in MK 11 either.

Let's remind that Mortal Kombat 11 will hit PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Switch. The game will be released on April 23, this year on the first three platforms. The Nintendo version will debut later, on May 10. Interestingly, this delay only concerns the European edition.
