In Wizard with a Gun, the player makes their way through a fantastical wilderness as a sharpshooting magician, crafting equipment, building structures and fighting enemies. The game allows for single or co-op gameplay, but how does it work? In this article, you will learn everything you need to know about multiplayer in Wizard with a Gun.

Multiplayer in Wizard with a Gun, How Many Players in Coop Explained

The co-op in Wizard with a Gun allows for two people to enjoy the game together. One of the players becomes the host, while the other joins their world through an online connection.

According to the developers, there are currently no plans for local multiplayer on a shared screen – or so called couch co-op. It means that it will likely not be possible to cooperate with friends or family on the same gaming set-up in Wizard with a Gun, unless the goals for future development change.

Co-op mechanics in Wizard with a Gun

After joining forces, wizards will get access to new mechanics. These are:

  1. Healing a downed teammate – once one of the players is knocked out, they won’t immediately die. The other wizard can heal them, but while doing so, they expose themselves to attacks.
  2. Combining spells – attacks from two wizards can combine and create new, devastating effects.
  3. Ghost mechanics – after dying and becoming a ghost, one of the players can scare the enemies away from their partner. Meanwhile, after finding a Ressurection Altar the surviving player can help resurrect the ghost by standing together in the altar’s circle.

Progression and Multiplayer in Wizard with a Gun

The biomes in Wizard with a Gun are randomly generated after the start of the save, and can be reset from the host’s tower. Thus, players might wonder what will happen to their own world after returing from cooperative play. However, there is no need to worry, as the second person’s map will be unchanged.

All of the progess and changes that are made to the world during the gameplay happen within the save-file of the first player. The role of the second person could be described as that of a helper.
