Overwatch first anniversary celebrated with special events; free weekend inbound

It's a good time to be an Overwatch fan, or to become one. There is a special anniversary event going on, which means lots of goodies for current players, as well as a free weekend incoming for all those interested in giving the game a try.

Overwatch is currently celebrating its first anniversary. To mark the occasion, Blizzard Entertainment has released lots of new content, including three new Arena maps for the Arcade. Besides, the developer is talking about over 100 rewards stored in special Loot Boxes. You can earn them by simply playing during the event, plus you get one the first time you log in. Alternatively, you are free to buy Anniversary Loot Boxes until the celebration is over on June 12, 2017.

What’s inside the boxes? These are primarily some all-new Legendary skins for characters – such as Bedouin Pharah, Cruiser D.Va, Graffiti Tracer, Beekeeper Mei, Sentai Genji, and Jazzy Lucio. The recent update also added a bunch of new emotes, including an individual dance for each character. Find out more on the official website.

For those of you who haven’t played Overwatch yet, there is a free weekend incoming on May 26-29. During that time you will be able to try out the unlimited version of the game at no cost on PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4.
