Rumor: PS5 Pro Will Match Xbox Series X; Microsoft Plans Weaker Version of the Console

According to the latest leak from NeoGAF, the PlayStation 5 Pro console will match the power of Xbox Series X, new details of which have recently been revealed. We also learned that Microsoft is preparing a weaker version of the ninth generation console, with performance similar to that of PS5.

PS 5 Pro similar in power to the new Xbox?
THE LEAK IN A NUTSHELL:
  • A leak appeared on NeoGAF, posted by VFXVeteran, a verified industry professional;
  • According to the user, the recently released details about Xbox Series X concern the more powerful version, and this basic one is designed to perform at the level of a regular PlayStation 5;
  • While the PS5 Pro will be able to compete with Xbox Series X (the stronger version, we've already heard about).

A few days ago we got to know new details about the specs of the upcoming next-gen console from Microsoft - Xbox Series X. The modified AMD Zen 2 CPU is designed to deliver 12 teraflops, more than eight times the performance of the original Xbox One and twice the performance of the original Xbox One X. The device will also be equipped with new functions. But we still don't know much about Sony's console, the PlayStation 5. However, the latest news from NeoGAF reveal more or less what we can expect from the Japanese device. But keep in mind that these are only rumors, not confirmed information.

The person responsible for the leak is VFXVeteran (a verified industry professional and a user of the forum). According to the user, the new Xbox console, the capabilities of which have recently been presented, is this "top end" version of the ninth generation device, and Microsoft will additionally present a weaker version, the performance of which will be similar to PS5 (about 9 teraflops). Thus, as you can already guess, the PS5 Pro will be as powerful as the Xbox Series X (the one we already know about).

"XSX that was released yesterday is the top end one. 12TFLOPS. There will be a base Xbox Series X that is slower than that one.

Sony is releasing 2 PS models. The base PS5 is 9TFLOPs . Their other one is also top of the line to compete with XSX top dog."

VFXVeteran also points out that stronger versions of both consoles will be expensive. He does not know the exact price yet, but he bet that it will be something around $600. He also doesn't know when Sony is going to release the PS5 Pro, but he guesses that both versions will be released at the same time - according to official information - in the Holiday period of 2020.
