Players Speedrunning the New Zelda; Impressive Record was Set

Speedrunners have already started working on The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. One of them managed to complete the campaign in less than two hours.

Update

The speedrun record did not hold long. Gymnast86 has just published a new record - this time he managed to reach the end in 92 minutes and 27 seconds, two minutes faster than the previous attempt.

Previous message

The release of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom was awaited not only by casual gamers, but also by speedrunners ready to break records in the fastest passage of Nintendo's latest hit. Among them was gymnast86, who has already achieved this - completing the campaign in 94 minutes and 33 seconds.

You can find the recording of the speedrun below. The craziest thing is that the video was published just a few hours after the game's debut. So Gymnast86 must have had The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom earlier to work out the right strategies.

Gymnast86 also published a second video in which he explains the methods he used for his speedrun. As he explained, the developers changed many of the elements that facilitated speedruns in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, so it was necessary to develop new tactics.

Of course, this is just the beginning of this type of playthroughs, and there will undoubtedly be faster speedruns in the future. In the case of Breath of the Wild the current record is 23 minutes and 42 seconds. Tears of the Kingdom is clearly a longer game than the previous part, so we are curious to see what kind of results speedrunners will be cranking out in a few months.

Recall that The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom was released on May 12 and is available exclusively on the Nintendo Switch console.

The project received an extremely enthusiastic reception. Reviewers are delighted, and the average on Metacritic is 96%.
