Sony Delivered TLoU Remake Collector's Editions in Terrible Condition

The Last of Us: Part I - Firefly Edition was poorly packaged by the publisher, and customers received damaged boxes. Meanwhile, Naughty Dog memorialized its teammate in the game.

September 2 marked the release of The Last of Us: Part I on PlayStation 5, but buyers of the collector's version - Firefly Edition - are not happy with the product delivered to them.

Poor condition of collector's editions

Sony messed up another thing related to The Last of Us: Part I. The product, which was delivered via PlayStation Direct (i.e., straight from Sony), was not properly protected from damage in transit.. Many customers on Twitter posted pictures of the purchased item, which definitely are a far cry from mint condition. The game was purchased in a special edition as new, but consumers received a damaged product of reduced value.

The special edition has already sold out, costing $99.99 in the publisher's store. Currently, due to unavailability, the price on eBay exceed even twice the amount demanded by the official seller. Next shipment of the limited edition will be available next week, but only for players from the United States. Naughty Dog tells Europeans to wait for a status update.

The Last of Us: Part I - Firefly Edition includes:

  • PlayStation 5 edition of the game,
  • limited edition steelbook,
  • four comic books from the The Last of Us: American Dreams series with new covers,
  • early access to in-game content.

Sony has not decided to make a replacement for the faulty copies, offering at most a refund option and a 20% discount on future purchases, according to reports from one purchaser of the Firefly Edition.

Naughty Dog commemorates a teammate

On a more positive note - Naughty Dog made a kind gesture in The Last of Us: Part I. An animator from Bend Studio, who helped create this game, conveyed that it will include a poster in memory of the person responsible for the game's visuals - the late Daniel Kinnard, who died during the work on Joel and Ellie's refreshed adventure. We can come across the graphic while searching for the protagonist on the farm.
