Warcraft 2 Resurrected; Chronicles of the Second War Mod Recreates Orignal Campaign

Warcraft III: Reforged is a controversial remaster that did not see a good launch. Since its release in 2020, however, much has changed, with various updates and the active modding community have made the title gain something in the eyes of players. Starting today, powered by the engine of Reforged, you can even play the campaign of the iconic Warcraft II from 1994.

Chronicles of the Second War: Tides of Darkness

This is made possible by the mod called Chronicles of the Second War: Tides of Darkness. Work on it reportedly began a decade ago, which is long before the announcement of Warcraft III: Reforged (via Polygon). Initially, the transfer of Warcraft II campaign to the newer engine was undertaken by one person, and over time the team grew to eight members and took the name LoreCraft Designs. Finally, this ambitious modification made its debut today, and to play it, you need Warcraft III: Reforged. You can watch the mod's trailer below - it looks impressive.

It is worth noting that the mod is not just a port of the old game to a new engine. The developers also had the ambition to add something from themselves, expanding and improving the classic. As a result, we got, among other things, completely new cutscenes, which develop key plot events. In addition, the mod offers:

1. 1500 professionally voiced dialogue lines (including movie cutscenes and lines spoken by individuals);
2. a fully revamped soundtrack, prepared by a group of artists based on music from the original;
3. new characters and boss fights inspired by mechanics from World of Warcraft;
4. 17 missions, thanks to which you will get to know Warcraft II lore anew.
