FNAF Security Breach received recently a DLC titled Ruin. It is an interesting addition to the existing and complicated lore of FNAF. Of course, as in the case of all games from the series, it rises many questions among fans. One of them is connected to the fate of Glamrock Freddy. What happened to our friend in Ruin? We may definitely state that he is not himself.

FNAF Security Breach – Freddy Glamrock
Freddy Glamrock is one of the protagonists in FNAF Security Breach. He is one of the rare cases in the series, when an animatronic is a good character. His friendship with Gregory saves the boy’s life. Many fans wonder what happened to Fred, as his character changed quite drastically in Ruin.

It may be shocking for some fans, when they discover Freddy in the ruined building. He is not a friendly animatronic, he used to be. He chases Cassie and meeting with him is not healthy for the protagonist. It brings many questions but the game does not give answers.

While there are no official explanations, we may have some theories on the fate of Freddy. To talk about them, we have to go back to one of the endings of Security Breach.

In Burntrap finale, the game ends with destruction of Freddy Fazbear's Mega Pizzaplex. It matches up to the Ruin DLC, where we learn about an earthquake which destroyed the building.
What is more, in the aforementioned ending, Gregory escapes with Freddy. It would mean that the mechatronic in the DLC is not an original character. Many fans believe that it is true. When we meet Freddy for the first time in Ruin, it is possible to see that he has something written on a foot – prototype.
According to players, the original Freddy did not have this inscription. We may also add, that at the end of Ruin, Cassie talks with a real Gregory, who states that he has a friend with an access to the building maps – our animatronic fits this description ideally.
#2 Theory – Good ending with Vanessa in FNAF Security Breach is canonical
There are also some facts which can suggests that good ending with Vanessa in FNAF Security Breach is canonical. In this finale Gregory leaves Pizzaplex with Freddy’s head and Vanessa. After credits they are presented eating ice-cream.
We have quite obvious reference to this finale at one of the endings in the Ruin DLC. While it is not reality in the game, the scene presented above is an ideal safe place for Cassie, as she runs from the Mimic. Similarities between two endings are too obvious for them to be a coincidence.
What is more, the friend which gave Gregory maps may be Vanessa, not Freddy. It also is quite interesting that the mechatronic from the Ruin DLC doesn’t have a head. It matches up to the fact that in the Vanessa Ending Gregory runs with it, leaving the rest of the body in Pizzaplex.

Regardless of the fact which aforementioned theory is real (if any), it is likely that Freddy (the real one) is not in the DLC. It would be suitable, as Gregory for most of the game is not himself either. We may only assume that one of the presented versions of Fred’s fate is the correct one. For the official answers we will have to wait probably for the next game.
