April Gacha revenue report is here. Honkai dominates, but WuWa takes the lead over Genshin.

Genshin Impact might still be holding the crown when it comes to player count (according to MMO Population), sitting comfortably at #1, while Wuthering Waves behind in 18th place. But in April, WuWa actually beat Genshin in one thing: players spent more money on it. I know it ain’t much, but it’s honest work.
Gacha Revenue released the numbers for April, and Honkai Star Rail absolutely dominated the charts, pulling in a staggering $102,450,000. Meanwhile Pokémon TCG Pocket, which was riding high in March, slipped down to third. But for Wuthering Waves fans, the more exciting news is a bit further down the list.
WuWa climbed two spots and finally beat Genshin in monthly earnings. The difference in revenue isn’t huge (it’s just $685,000) and I know that this is mainly because Genshin’s earnings went massively down since January, but a win’s a win.
If you look at the active player charts, Genshin has basically a flat line – steady as ever – showing a loyal and stable player base. WuWa, on the other hand, has been more of a rollercoaster ride with ups and downs throughout the month. But things started looking up again toward the end of April, and that’s likely thanks to a combination of factors: the Steam launch definitely brought in new people, but it was probably the recent updates, new Resonators, and the anniversary events that really helped drive engagement, and of course, spending.
It’s not like I’m a Genshin Impact hater; I just prefer the combat in Wuthering Waves. The parkour and wall-running are a lot of fun, and the visuals, while still colorful, have a slightly darker vibe that I really like. So it’s just nice to see WuWa outdo such a huge, well-established game in at least one area.

Been with gamepressure.com since 2019, mostly writing game guides but you can also find me geeking out about LEGO (huge collection, btw). Love RPGs and classic RTSs, also adore quirky indie games. Even with a ton of games, sometimes I just gotta fire up Harvest Moon, Stardew Valley, KOTOR, or Baldur's Gate 2 (Shadows of Amn, the OG, not that Throne of Bhaal stuff). When I'm not gaming, I'm probably painting miniatures or admiring my collection of retro consoles.
