Pillars of Eternity: How to earn gold fast?

In Pillars of Eternity, you need gold mainly for buying items from traders and for expanding the Caed Nua keep. Since this often requires lots of gold, below you can find a number of hints on how to earn quick money:

• Try to complete, in the first place, those of the side quests that are rewarded with high amounts of gold (they have been described in the walkthrough for the game). I especially recommend that you take interest in the abovementioned quests from bounty hunters. For killing the specific opponent, you can receive as many as several thousand gold coins.
• Take advantage of the fact that the space in your inventory is unlimited and collect all of the possible items, also ones dropped by opponents. Get rid of the unwanted items by selling them to traders/ You can return from each longer journey with items of the value ranging between several hundred and several thousand gold.
• If possible, try to break/pick locks on locked chests and other containers that you find, e.g. in buildings or dungeons. Unfortunately, you need to watch out, while doing this, because in many cases you can be accused of theft and attacked. Therefore, often use the Stealth mode, although there also are cases, in which you can wait until all of the NPCs leave the room.
• Take interest in restoration of the Keep, thanks to which it generates more income. Apart from that, wait for the moments, at which the game lets you know about the option to receive additional quests, at the keep. Have the inactive party members complete them, because such quests usually are followed by additional gold
