This page of the guide to Sherlock Holmes Chapter One provides a walkthrough of the quest A Gilded Cage. We described the things you need to do inside Gilden Residence. You'll interview the neighbor's daughter, search her room and Mr. Gilden's office. You'll gain a lot of valuable information here. In the mansion you will also find the first item you need to get the Everyone's a Critic trophy.

Entering the Residence

You can get to the Gilden Residence without any problems. You already have the key you took from the coat by the river. It will allow you to enter the house through the front door and no one will pay attention to it. Only the neighbor's daughter will be a little surprised by your visit.

Imogen

As soon as you approach the stairs, Sherlock go to Imogen's room on his own. The woman will be surprised at how you got into her home, but in no way will she be negative towards you. She'll be happy to tell you what she heard and answer any questions.

The topics you need to discuss with her are:

1. animal suspect,
2. traces near the shed.

They'll give you new information that will help you with your investigation.

Your next assignment will be to search Imogen's room, specifically one of her cupboards. It's on the right side of the bed, between a white, ornate dresser and a similar vanity.

Here, you need to examine:

1. a book,
2. an open drawer,
3. the prepared clothes.

Mr. Gilden's office

You'll find Imogen's father's office directly across from her room. Simply leave, walk up the stairs and turn left. We marked this door on the screenshot above.

The first thing that will catch your eye in the office is the chair facing the window. This way, the man could admire his animal, right from his office.

The next thing you need to examine is the desk. Several important things are on it. Take a closer look at:

1. the perfume bottle,
2. the photo of the elephant,
3. the photo of the daughter,
4. the prosthetic thumb.

Then head to the desk on the right side of the room. That's where you'll find the excavation plans. You need to look at their lower, middle and upper right part.

After studying the excavation plan, you need to take a picture of it. You can do that with the E key on PC. Alternatively, depending on the platform, press LT on XBOX or L2 on PS. You will find a complete list of controls on a separate page of the guide.

At the end, you need to examine two more bookshelves. On them you will find a newspaper clipping, a photo and the plans.

Return to Imogen

It's time to get back to the late man's daughter for a little longer. You need to ask her a few questions to start a more large-scale search.

You must ask the woman about:

1. Ivory Baths Construction plan,
2. Vial with perfume,
3. Bazookaeology Trilogy,
4. Photo of Imogen,
5. Packed Bags.

Once you've asked all the questions, it's time to leave the mansion and go to the workshop.
