The Division 2: How to level-up solo?
Last update:
Even if Tom Clancy's The Division 2 is a multiplayer-oriented game, you can just as well choose to play solo (the topic is described in detail on a separate page of this guide). The key issue is gaining experience while playing single - you can read more about it in this chapter.
Can you level-up solo?
Leveling-up solo is doable, but requires a lot more work, as combat is more dangerous and takes more time, while rewards for completing quests are less valuable than when playing as a 4-man team.
How to effectively gain experience as a single player?
To gain experience points while playing alone, consider doing the following:
- Complete story missions. You need to complete them one way or the other, as they unlock new mechanics, areas, and push the story forward. Make sure to complete them as fast as possible (as your experience level allows it) - completing a single story mission can fill the whole experience bar.
- Complete side missions. These are much shorter than story missions, but still enable you to get a lot of experience points, valuable items, while some of them unlock new mechanics.
- Kill enemies. You'll get a plenty of opportunities, as Division 2 is an action game, focused on combat. It is recommended to engage in every firefight - the experience gain may seem to be meagre, but multiplied will quickly allow you to gain a lot of experience points.
- Gather collectibles. The game contains hundreds of collectibles (some of them are listed by this guide). Gathering them will allow you to gain some experience and learn new, interesting pieces of The Division 2 story.
Leveling up solo - tips
Here is a list of things that facilitate levelling up solo.
- A right choice of abilities. When playing solo, it is recommended to have a Turret with you that will allow you to get the opponent off your back. Moreover, choose a healing ability for the second slot e.g. Drone or upgraded Hive. These skills will help you in combat.
- Paying attention to the situation at hand. When going in alone, you need to constantly be on alert - the enemies will attempt to flank you, or throw grenades at your position. Watch the area around you and jump to a different cover if need arise.
- Take care of your armor. When the enemy depletes your armor, regenerate it. Mostly, your character has much more armor than health points. After depleting the armor, it will only take 2-3 hits for your character to fall during the battle. Regenerate your armor with "medkits" or by using abilities.
- The right choice of armament. Equip a ranged weapon (sniper rifle) which will allow you to hurt the opponent from a safe range, before he is able to attack. The second weapon should be a medium-range weapon, such as an assault rifle or a sub-machine gun. If you are fighting in close quarters, use a shotgun.
