Table of Contents

  1. Release date: 2018

  3. Platforms: PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One
  4. It's a game for: playing in a duo, perfect for a team of a beginner and a seasoned player.

If you're looking for a game that you could play along with a beginner (or a more experienced friend), then A Way Out is a game designed exactly for playing in a duo. It's a two-player co-op game that can be played together on couch, or by connecting with another person via the Internet.

You play Vincent and Leo, two convicts that couldn't have more different personalities, who decide to escape the prison together. Diverting the attention of guards, coordinated stealing of gear needed to escape, and sharing the adventure is the perfect opportunity to learn how to play, and how video games work. The plot sounds a bit pretentious, but the whole thing is well-written, and playing two criminals is a lot of fun. Besides, crawling through vent shafts, cutting bars, and escaping the prison is one of those clichés that never gets old.

The biggest advantage of A Way Out in the context of this article is certainly the gameplay mode. Simple controls, walking, and performing simple tasks while your friend is talking to a guard, synchronously pressing the right buttons – all that is relatively easy, but the atmosphere of the game makes for a thrill during most challenges. No matter what you do or where you are, the camera always follows both characters. If you split up, the screen will also split up and allow you to watch each character separately. This provides the perfect environment to learn how to play video games, with the more experienced player able to assist and advise the beginner. No risks of hearing "Let me do it."
