Journey. How to start playing? The best video games

Table of Contents

  1. Release date: 2012
  2. Genre: artsy co-op adventure/exploration game
  3. Platforms: PC, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, iOS
  4. It's a game for: players looking for experience in a beautiful world and are open to sharing it with others

Journey's motto could be summed as "no man is an island." The overarching idea of this game is to traveling the world with another player. The trick is that there's no way to talk, and until the end of the play, you don't know who your companion is.

Simple, but incredibly stylish graphics, beautiful lands and an almost contemplative journey towards a lonely mountain on the horizon... sound exalted? Then let's get to the bottom of it – you're a person in a cape, who explores a semi-open world and occasionally meets another player with whom we can spend any amount of time. Together, you travel through the lands, where you encounter ruins from a once powerful civilization. Along the way, you solve simple puzzles and take part in arcade-platformer sequences.

A great advantage of Journey is the world that really takes the breath away and makes you want to just stand there and take it in. If you're looking for a game that encourages exploration and rewards for it with beautiful landscapes, this is it. And sharing those experiences with another person makes the whole experience even more powerful.

RULE #4

Pretty can be better than realistic. Regular gamers often pay a lot of attention to things like texture quality, animations, and 3D models. They pay attention to stuff like behavior of snow under the character's feet, and intricate physics of movement. People generally unfamiliar with video games are more likely to appreciate other elements, and a graphics style distinctive in art terms is more likely to delight them than advanced volumetric effects.
