Small and Indie RPGs Coming in 2022 You're Not Hyped About, But You Should

While there will be no shortage of big RPGs in 2022, there are also at least a dozen lesser-known indie games on the cards. If they don't fail on the technological side of things, they may succeed with their pure radness and originality.

Death Trash

  1. Developer: Crafting Legends
  2. Release date: 2022

Death Trash, available in Early Access for six months, is a game so original that it's difficult to even classify it. On the one hand, the events take place on a distant planet, on the other, the landscape brings to mind a classic post-apocalypse, topped with a few nice bytes of cyberpunk, cosmic horror, grotesque and vulgar humor.

Pixelart graphic design gives a specific atmosphere. Don't expect detailed equipment view or even changes in the facial expressions of the heroes, but you can quickly get used to this convention. Death Trash leaves a lot of room for the imagination.

One of the inspirations of the Berlin studio was Planescape: Torment. And although we won't experience that much text in the game, it's still a clear reference. And that's quite something. In addition, the game also offers some interesting solutions, for example the ability to ignore the interlocutors and drop off at any time of the conversation. Or kill them (even if it's your ally). Quite simply – there's something for everyone.

It's worth the wait because:

  1. Death Trash is a good piece of post-apo;
  2. Death Trash is an even better piece of cyberpunk;
  3. Death Trash is the most original piece of RPG in years.
