Apex Legends: What are the Red Balloons used for?

In Apex Legends you have to constantly stay in motion. Every few minutes, the available game area is reduced. If you linger in a blocked area, you will be quickly eliminated from the game and your companions will not be able to save you. Red balloons are the best way to get around the map quickly. What are the Red Balloons used for?

The red balloons in Apex Legends are basically jump towers. You can see them from afar, so it's easy to locate them. Balloons are useful for quick navigation of the map. They allow to fire yourself into the air in order to quickly escape, or change the location on the map. This resembles a landing that takes place at the beginning of every round 1.

How to use the Red Balloons?

To use the red balloon, you have to get close to it and climb to the top right along the line.

Remember that you are exposed to attacks from all enemies in the area while climbing. You're a (climbing) sitting duck and you have no way of defending yourself.

When you get into the balloon, it will shoot you into the air. This will allow you to glide for a few seconds (just like when landing at the beginning of the match).
