Brotherhood Of Steel

  1. Which game? Several installments, from the first Fallout to Fallout 76
  2. Where can we find them? In many different locations

The Brotherhood of Steel is by far the most iconic faction in Fallout universe. Its Powered Armors became the symbol of the whole franchise. How did it all start? I already mentioned that the world of Fallout, the first one, it was pure misery and decay. After leaving Vault 13, we first encountered a settlement built of mud, a bandit hideout, an abandoned vault, and a settlement in a junkyard. If we went further on, we could see that the largest settlement in the area – The Hub, a rich commercial center – holds this distinction only for lack of any competition in the poverty and despair-stricken wasteland.

And then we encountered them. Two guards in shining armor, armed in heavy Gatling guns that took away any desire to joke by their very appearance. Behind them, a tiny booth surrounded by barbed wire in the middle of nowhere. I don't know about the rest of you, but I was very impressed. And then we would go on a mission and discover that the sand was hiding several floors of a secret base, clean beds, computers and dozens of well-armed people who spent all day training. It was the only place such in the entire game, and the desire to become a part of it was powerful. In doing so, we discover that the Brotherhood's primary mission is to acquire and preserve technology. Looking at the world around us, we feel that this is not a bad goal.

Interestingly, in the second game, the presence of the Brotherhood was symbolic. However, the organization returned in Fallout Tactics, and later played a very important role in Fallout 3, where we could visit its stronghold. After that it appeared in New Vegas, and Fallout 4, where the Brotherhood possessed a flying base of operations.

Recently, the Brotherhood of steel even appeared in Fallout 76 thanks to the Steel Dawn update. Earlier in the game we could learn about a small group of warriors who found their doom in the region in which the action takes place. Now we see another Brotherhood expedition coming to find out what happened.

TRIVIA

The least known installment of the series is definitely Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel, released in 2004 on PlayStation 2 and Xbox. Instead of turn-based battle, it offered a more arcade, real-time combat system. In the end, the game was forgotten and even some fans of the series do not know about its existence.
