Circling the rock will make hitting Takkar harder.

Follow the tracks to find the mammoth by the water. Set some traps and distract the mammoth with an animal. You can take advantage of the AI and fight the mammoth while circling a large rock. Because of that, the beast won't be able to charge. Moreover, there is a chance that when it chases Takkar, it will not notice, for example, a cave bear that you'll summon. Therefore, you might be able to lure the animal into two traps and hurt it several times. When you succeed, the mammoth will run to another place.

That's where things stop being so pretty. You need to be careful, because the beast may hit you easily. Your animals can be easily killed as well, so come with enough meat to heal them. Set the traps and drop ice on the mammoth's head. Try to climb the rock in the middle and jump down when the mammoth charges. You will have a few seconds to do some damage, then escape and repeat this strategy while dropping icicles on the beast.

Finish the animal with everything you've got.

The last arena is the place of the mammoth's demise. Setting traps and luring it into them is once again recommended - it will help you deal a lot of damage. Do not forget about summoning your animals and hiding behind rocks. When you defeat the animal, walk up to it and end its suffering, finally killing it.
