Farming Simulator 19: New tractor - what to pay attention to while buying?

The most expensive tractors aren't always the best; see why...

In Farming Simulator 19, a tractor's price and power aren't the only things you should pay attention to when you are buying a new machine. Below you can find a few tips on what is important when you are choosing a new tractor.

• Besides the default engine power, you should also check if a given tractor can be upgraded. Maybe you don't need a powerful machine yet, but later you may be in a need of a more powerful engine - purchasing a new tractor is a waste of money... For example, the first medium class tractor, Case IH 7200 Pro Series, has the engine with 170 hp. However, you can upgrade this engine to 261 hp which is equal to a heavy tractor.
• Pay attention to speed: paying more money for a faster tractor isn't always a good idea, especially when this machine will be used only to sowing and cultivating. The majority of the machines has a limit to how fast they can drive - you won't use their full speed outside of transporting yields in semi-trailers. Worth knowing: modifying the engine increases the maximum speed of any tractor by 3km/h.
• Tracks and turnability: tractors differ in their steering angle. Those with a bigger steering angle can easily turn around on your field without the need to use the reverse gear. Also, some of the tractors like Linder Lintrac 90 and all tractors made by JCB have rear-axle steering which gives them better turnability. Vehicles with caterpillar tracks, the most expansive machines in the game, are a special case here - these vehicles can turn in place.
• Front attachment: most of the tractors allow you to attach various machinery (i.e. manure spreader or an additional container with seeds). Be sure that your tractor can use these attachments. Notice the yellow round element in front of your tractor - this is called transmission. Some machinery, i.e. the chainsaw attachment for your tractor use engine's motive power. Your tractor must have this element if you want to attach one of these machinery and have them fully functional. Many tractors (especially those from the heavy-class) have a weight already attached to their front.
• Front Load Attacher: this option isn't for every tractor but many of them can get these attachers for $1,500. Thanks to this equipment you can attach a front loader which allows you to use various attachments: shovel, palette / bale fork etc.
