The story of Project 5, previously known as Nuclear Union, is set in an alternative reality, where the Cuban Missile Crisis ended with a nuclear war and the death of most of human population. Some citizens of the Soviet Union, however, managed to take shelter in bunkers. 50 years later they decided to return to the surface and rebuild the lost civilization.
