The plot of the game depicts a galactic conflict between the two factions, Core and Arm, which has lasted for thousands of years and led to the collapse of both civilizations. The player takes control of the survivors of the army of one side, trying to recreate the former military potential and eventually tip the scales of victory.

The action of Desperados: Wanted Dead or Alive takes place in the Wild West and during the game we control a team led by gunslinger John Cooper and consisting of six cowboys with different skills. In the team there are: a simple bandit, an expert in explosives, a barber who can heal minor wounds, a poker player and an experienced gambler.
