The Quiet Place films had a remarkably simple but very effective narrative hook. A Quiet Place: The Road Ahead is a pitch-perfect, authentic recreation of the movies’ tone and tension. What holds it back is the lack of variety in player input stretched over the game’s running time of eight or so hours. It’s definitely not a great game for fidgety, impatient players. For fans of the films and/or stealth-focused adventure horror games, A Quiet Place: The Road Ahead effectively checks a lot of boxes.

MonsterVine: 3 / 5 by Luis Joshua Gutierrez

A Quiet Place: The Road Ahead is fun if you’re looking for an entertaining horror game. It has a lot of fun mechanics that add a lot of nuances to each level while throwing in fun death mazes for you to navigate. But being said, the Death Angels AI isn’t the best, and many of the story beats aren’t as heavy-hitting as their movie counterparts.

Analog Stick Gaming: 7.5 / 10 by Jordan Andow

A Quiet Place: The Road Ahead might not be an action game and definitely doesn’t have the best story, but it is authentic, and as a lover of the movie universe that certainly made this a special experience. If you haven’t watched the movies then the closest game comparison is Alien: Isolation. This game left me with a tension-filled quietness even when not playing it and that’s all you can really ask for from a good horror game. As a fan of the movie series, I certainly consider this as a must play.

The main cons of the game

The features or elements that are missing from the game according to users

  • More Complex Mechanics: Players expressed a desire for more diverse gameplay mechanics and challenges as the game progressed, rather than the introduction of half-baked features late in the game.

  • Character Depth: Many reviews pointed out the need for deeper character development and meaningful interactions to enhance player engagement with the story.
  • Improved Sound Mechanics: While sound was a core gameplay element, players felt that the sound design could have been better executed to enhance the tension without leading to frustration from instant deaths.

Summary
