SpellForce: Shadow of the Phoenix
SpellForce: Shadow of the Phoenix

Strategy 12 November 2004

The second official expansion for the well-received SpellForce: The Order of Dawn. After the events of the first expansion, The Breath of Winter, Shadow of the Phoenix introduces a new threat: a mysterious necromancer. He succeeds in enslaving one of the gods and use his power to bring thirteen mages back from the dead — the very ones, who once almost destroyed the world in an apocalyptic disaster. They can only be defeated by using the Phoenix Stone, and it's up to the player-controlled protagonist to find it. The expansion features a news story campaign, which should take about 40 hours to complete. Shadow of the Phoenix introduces new locations, main quests and side quests, as well as allies, who can help you fight your enemy. The expansion also raises the level cap to 50 and adds new spells, equipment and abilities for your character. The strategic aspect of the game also features novelties, such as new units and buildings for all races, as well as 25 new maps for the multiplayer mode.

SpellForce: The Breath of Winter

Strategy 25 June 2004

The first official expansion for SpellForce: The Order of Dawn. The plot of The Breath of Winter centers on the demonic prince responsible for the awakening of Aryn the ice dragon, who can destroy the world. The expansion features new environment, equipment and abilities for the protagonist, as well as dozens of main quest missions and side quests. The main story campaign takes about 40 hours to complete. The Breath of Winter also introduces the Free Mode, in which you can complete single scenarios. It's worth noting that you can customize the gameplay settings. The mechanics remain mostly the same, so the game is still an RTS/RPG mix. Apart from developing your player character, you also have to manage your base and army, which consists of varies units. The game also features a multiplayer mode for up to 3 players.
