Aragami: Nightfall is an expansion to the stealth game Aragami, a title that debuted in 2016. It is a non-standalone expansion. It means that having the basic version of the game is required to play Nightfall. Both titles were developed by Lince Works.

Plot

The expansion is a prequel to the core game – it takes place before the events presented in Aragami. Nightfall tells the story of two shadow assassins – Hyo and Shinobu. They embark on a journey to catch the mysterious Alchemist and to save their lost female companion. They must hurry as the villain intends to use her in a forbidden ritual.

Mechanics

Aragami: Nightfall does not introduce major changes to the basic gameplay mechanics. The title remains a stealth-oriented action game in which players aren’t capable of dealing with large groups of enemies simultaneously. The protagonists prefer to avoid being detected and to eliminate opponents silently. The action is more varied thanks to the many paranormal abilities of the protagonists. They include controlling the darkness in order to hide bodies or to create places to hide in.

Aragami: Nightfall focuses mostly on adding new content. The expansion features a campaign that consists of four chapters. During them, the players visit snow valleys and corrupted cities. Three new shadow techniques can be used during the game.

Game modes

Similarly to the basic version of the game Aragami: Nightfall features a singleplayer mode and option to play the game in two-player cross-platform cooperation mode in which each player controls one shadow assassin.
