Atari Flashback Classics Vol. 3 is an extensive collection of several dozen old games, known from the Atari 2600 and 5200 platforms, as well as archival games from the M Network. These productions have been slightly refreshed in order to look better on high-resolution TVs. The games within this collection were selected and comiled by Atari.
Atari Flashback Classics Vol. 3 is a collection of relatively simple, 2D arcade games. Both the perspective from which players observe the action and the specific mechanics of the game depend on the selected game. The list includes productions representing various genres: sports games, shooters, platformers, and fighting games. Network functionality has also been added (e.g. trophies and an online scoreboard).
Atari Flashback Classics Vol. 3 includes: Adventure II, Air Raiders, Aquaventure, Armor Ambush, Asteroids, Astroblast, Atari Baseball, Atari Basketball, Atari Football, Atari Soccer, Avalanche, Canyon Bomber, Centipede, Countermeasure, Dark Cavern, Destroyer, Dominos, Final Legacy, Fire Truck/Smokey Joe, Frog Pond, Frogs and Flies, Holey Moley, International Soccer, Maze Invaders, Micro-gammon, Millipede, Miniature Golf, Missile Command, Monte Carlo, MotoRodeo, Pool Shark, Realsports Baseball, Realsports Basketball, Realsports Football, Realsports Tennis, Realsports Volleyball, Saboteur, Sea Battle, Sky Diver, Space Attack, Star Raiders, Star Strike, Super Breakout, Super Bug, Super Challenge Baseball, Super Challenge Football, Sword Fight, Wizard, Xari Arena, Yars' Return.
Atari Flashback Classics Vol. 3 can be in both single and multiplayer modes - the latter one either locally or online. Interestingly enough, different titles available in the collection offer different game modes.
Games featured in the collection of Atari Flashback Classics Vol. 3 are very old, and thus feature low quality visuals. All games have been graphically adjusted to look a little better, but most often the modifications are limited to increasing the resolution in which the image is displayed and, if necessary, adjusting the 2D images so that they do not hit players with simple colours and pixels. In some cases, completely new elements have been added (e.g. using them as a background).
