Axis & Allies Online is a turn-based strategy set in the reality of World War II and is an adaptation of the classic board game published by Avalon Hill. The production was developed by Beamdog studio, known for such titles as Neverwinter Nights: Enhanced Edition and Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition.
Axis & Allies Online is based on the board game known as Axis & Allies: 1942 Second Edition. The authors reconstructed most of the rules of the table original. Players can direct an Allied nation by choosing between the Soviet Union, the United States, and the United Kingdom, or take command of one of the Axis countries (Germany and Japan).
The game revolves around the conquest of territories. The gameplay is based on a fictional ICP currency, one unit of which corresponds to a million hours of human labour. We can spend it by buying new units, financing research of technologies, and repairing damaged structures. In addition, in each round players decide on the movements of the troops. Combat is simplified and the outcome of the clashes is determined mainly by the composition of competing forces and random factors.
The rules of the game are mostly the same as in board games, but the authors have also introduced some key changes to make the game more enjoyable and quicker. First of all, the mechanics required in the table original for making one's own calculations were automated, so that players could focus on making strategic decisions.
Axis & Allies Online is designed primarily for multiplayer for two to five players. However, the production also offers opponents controlled by artificial intelligence, thus allowing you to play solo or complement your multiplayer battles with them.
The game offers simple and legible visuals, faithfully reproducing the atmosphere and style of the tabletop original.
