Release Date: Q1 2026 Early Access
A realistic, tactical first-person shooter developed by Karmakut (a YouTuber) and genre veterans (creators of Arma 3, Squad, and Ready or Not). In Bellum, we are transported to war-torn Africa in the 2030s, where success depends entirely on our meticulous planning, tactical development, and squad coordination.
Tactical shooters are a genre that, although quite popular among both players and developers, has not seen groundbreaking changes for many years. Frustrated by this fact, a YouTuber using the pseudonym Karmakut decided to take matters into his own hands and create his own production of this type. He was assisted by developers with projects like Arma 3, Squad, Ready or Not, and Ground Branch in their portfolios, united under the banner of Astarte Industries.
In Bellum the action is viewed from a first-person perspective (FPP).
The core of the gameplay consists of platoon-scale military operations, which must be meticulously planned based on available information and then carefully executed. Since it's impossible to predict all eventualities, the key to success is the ability to quickly react to changing situations on the battlefield and adapt your tactics accordingly.
This is particularly important because the game places a strong emphasis on realism. This is especially true for the damage system, which requires soldiers to provide medical assistance to their partners. Complementing this is a limited lives system, which means charging at enemies with a battle cry is rarely effective. Instead, it's better to focus on coordinating actions and cooperation within squads.
The available arsenal in the game is diverse and includes both standard firearms and weapons operated by multiple people, such as heavy machine guns, mortars, and rocket launchers.
Bellum offers multiplayer gameplay modes such as Attrition, Exploitation, and Occupation. The gameplay varies depending on the mode and the organization we fight for (ranging from the flexible Ranger Regiment, through the independent PMC SATYR, to the aggressive guerrillas of Al-Zalaam).
Bellum takes us to Africa in the 2030s. This continent has become a stage for local conflicts and proxy wars for global powers. During the game we find ourselves in the midst of this melting pot.
Bellum uses Unreal Engine 5. The game also makes use of Lumen (responsible for lighting) and Nanite (a virtual environment geometry system) technologies.
