Black Future '88 is a 2D arcade shooter with platformer elements. The game was prepared by independent studio Super Scary Snakes, which together with it made its official debut. The title was released on the PC platform.
Players find themselves in a postapocalyptic world. A number of Duncan triggered nuclear annihilation, responsible for dropping atomic bombs. The first one fell in the summer of 1988, and by December the sky was completely covered by clouds, from which nuclear rain is constantly falling. Those who managed to survive the explosions of bombs will still die as a result of the floods. The only chance is to defeat Duncan, hiding on the top floor of a large tower.
Players find themselves in a randomly generated building, on top of which is its mad owner. Our task is to put an end to it. The game is mainly about fighting, during which we use various tools of murder found during the game (a total of more than 50 unique weapons have been prepared) and exceptional skills of the heroes - we can direct one of five different characters. In addition, we have more than 30 reinforcements and curves to help us adapt our capabilities to current needs; however, they need to be carefully selected and combined, as "overdose" will cause our protagonist's heart to explode.
The tower has been divided into five different zones with different rules; in each zone you have to face a very dangerous boss.
Black Future '88 encourages you to keep repeating the game, but if you get bored with single player mode, you can try your hand at co-op for two people. In addition, there are daily challenges where we can compete for the best results with players from all over the world.
Distinguishing feature Black Future '88 for the PC platform from other independent shooters is a cyberpunk climate. Super Scary Snakes studio managed to create a specific graphic design and a unique soundtrack by Tremor Low. Interestingly, the soundtrack was released in physical form on vinyl records.
