Blood will be Spilled is an original action game with a turn-based combat system, in which we are taken to the Wild West inhabited by humanoidal insects. The game's developer is an independent Slovak studio Doublequote, based in Bratislava. The game is the team's debut project. The creators were inspired by classic westerns, especiall the representatives of the genre produced in Italy.

Plot

Blood will be Spilled takes place in a cartoonish world inhabited by insects. In the course of the game we accompany Jack the mosquito, who chose the dangerous profession of a bounty hunter. The protagonist travels from town to town, hunting down dangerous criminals. Soon, however, he gets into trouble and gets involved in an affair that may end his life. In order to capture his target, i.e. the four bosses of the dangerous Calaveras gang, he has to gather allies and prepare an appropriate plan. The story is presented in movie interludes, dialogues and spoken narration accompanying the game.

Mechanics

At first glance, Blood will be Spilled resembles two-dimensional side-scrolling platformers or shooters. Since the main character fights almost always against an overwhelming number of opponents, the creators introduced a turn-based combat system into the game. Thanks to it, we can calmly plan every move, hide behind obstacles, use elements of the environment for our purposes, or suck blood from fallen enemies.

Jack has a total of twelve active and three passive skills, which are assigned to the hero's three paths of development - "good", "bad" and "ugly". In our arsenal there are seven models of revolvers, with different impact force and range. In addition to the four bosses of the gang, we also fight a total of nine types of opponents. It is worth mentioning that individual locations are full of various secrets and references to western cinema.

Technical aspects

Blood will be Spilled features fully two-dimensional visuals that use hand drawn and animated models of characters and backgrounds. The authors of the title have provided a professional voice acting for the production. The main role will be played by Elias Toufexis, known for his role of Adam Jensen in the Deus Ex series. The game is accompanied by atmospheric acoustic guitar music tracks.
