Bloodstained: The Scarlet Engagement is a metroidvania-style production, realized in the form of a platform action game. At the same time it is a prequel to the Bloodstained series, which began in 2018. The game was developed by ArtPlay studio, which has been overseeing the development of the series from the beginning.

Extensive labyrinth

The game provides us with the largest world in the history of the series, which consists of interconnected locations forming a kind of labyrinth. Among them, we will find both outdoor locations and gothic buildings, as well as their interiors. While exploring them, we jump on platforms, avoid traps, and bypass terrain obstacles, demonstrating agility and reflexes in the process.

Combat and character development

Duels with opponents also play an important role here. On our path, we encounter numerous enemies and powerful bosses. During dynamic skirmishes, we must be constantly on the move, skillfully avoiding enemy attacks and launching swift counterattacks.

A special mention should be made of the changing times of day and night, which affect the gameplay and provide us with specific ways of interacting with the world. The source of these latter ones is also the gradual development of characters and the crafting system. Thanks to them, not only does the combat potential of the heroes increase, but they also gain access to previously blocked places. All of this makes it worth returning to already visited locations, as they may hide secrets.

Story

The action of Bloodstained: The Scarlet Engagement is set before the events depicted in previous productions under this banner. The game transports us to a fantastic version of 16th-century England inspired by Gothic horror. The fate of this land hung by a thread when infernal hordes began to emerge from the ethereal castle belonging to Elias - the Lord of Demons.

The Church's Black Wolves clan and the Kingdom's White Deer present a duet of young warriors - Leonard Brandon and Alexander Kyteler. They must unite their forces, take up arms and head towards the grim fortress to put an end to its ruler before things go too far.
