Bridge Constructor is the production of the Austrian Clockstone Software, addressed to players who have a knack for engineering. The game draws inspiration from classic puzzle games, such as Pontifex; however, due to the simplicity of the gameplay, the title is much more accessible than its predecessors and is hence meant for a much wider range of recipients.
The action of the game takes place in a fictional island nation of Camatuga, which, as a result of a powerful earthquake, has lost a number of crucial bridge connections. The player becomes an engineer, who has been tasked with the construction of new bridges over the numerous valleys, rivers and even city streets. The constructor does not only have to deal with the functionality and safety of the project, but also has to keep a firm grasp on the financial part of the endeavour.
The developers have prepared several diversified missions that have an increasingly high level of difficulty. Each task can be fulfilled in a variety of ways and with the usage of four different materials, i.e. wood, steel, wire rope and concrete pillars. The conditions that have to be fulfilled for completing a given mission are to successfully pass the stress tests and to fit within the budget constraints.
Bridge Constructor is distinguished by simple, but elegant, visuals. The 3D graphics are not extremely rich in details, which makes the title look quite similar both on the PC and on mobile devices. Among the more interesting aspects of the production is the title’s integration with Facebook, which gives you the option to share your constructions with your friends with little to no issue.
