A sandbox RPG with elements of an economic strategy. Chef RPG allows us to plan, design and run our own restaurant. We can prepare and serve meals, obtain needed ingredients, explore the area, hire employees and interact with the locals.
Chef RPG is a role playing game enriched with elements of economic strategies, in which we run our own restaurant. The game was developed by the independent team World 2 Studio, and its creation was made possible partially thanks to a successful crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter.
The action of Chef RPG takes place in a universe combining fantasy elements with technology. During the game we play the role of a young chef who arrives at the port of White Ash. Our task is to restore the former splendor of the Le Sequoia restaurant, which was once a true gem of this region. It's on us to make sure our protagonist succeeds.
In Chef RPG we watch the events from a bird's eye view. During the game we are responsible for all issues related to running the restaurant. At the start, we need to decide what kind of place we want to run, as the creators allow us to turn Le Sequoia not only into a universal restaurant, but also a pub, a pastry shop, or even a tea house. We can choose the hours during which it will be open, as well as select its style, various decorations and equipment.
In addition, we must ensure that we never run out of ingredients to fulfill the orders placed by our guests. The assortment of ingredients that we manage to gather determines what meals and drinks we can serve to customers. We can buy ingredients in stores, but a better option is to engage in various activities around White Ash, including fishing, hunting, or fruit picking.
When everything is ready, we can start preparing meals based on recipes that we unlock as we progress. Individual activities performed in the kitchen are presented in the form of various mini-games. As we develop the skills of our character, we become not only better over time, but also increasingly specialized.
If we do everything right, the news about Le Sequoia will spread around the neighborhood again, and real crowds will start flocking to our restaurant. Each of the inhabitants of White Ash has their own personality and stories. As we get to know them better, we perform various tasks for them and establish relationships that, over time, may turn into fiery romances.
Given that an increasing number of customers translates not only into a larger portfolio, but also into the amount of work, we have no choice but to start hiring employees - beginning with waiters and waitresses, ending with other chefs who will relieve us of our daily duties. All potential employees have individual skills and statistics that reflect their effectiveness.
The rhythm of life in White Ash is primarily determined by the daily cycle. We must carefully plan our next moves to have enough time for both duties directly related to work in the restaurant, and for obtaining ingredients or resting (in the local sauna for example). The game also implements variable weather conditions and seasons, which affect the availability of ingredients, as well as the behavior of characters and local fauna.
The graphics of Chef RPG were created using the pixel art technique.
