Cold War: Conflicts

Confrontation: Peace Enforcement is another game from the real time strategy cycle (Cold War: Conflicts, Gulf War) published in Russian-speaking territories by the company (Russobit-M). The project refers to the recently ended armed conflict between Georgia and Russia.

The plot of the game is based on facts known to us: on the night of 7 to 8 August 2008, Georgia began an armed "restoration of constitutional order" in South Ossetia. These measures were not without echo - in response to the attack on Ossetia, Russian troops also entered the country, officially - with the help of the Ossetians. The fighting lasted 5 days - until 12 August, when the peace forcing operation under the title was suspended, as declared by the President of Russia, Dmitry Medvedev.

In Confrontation: Peace Enforcement, the troops involved in the described conflict were deployed practically as they were in reality. All the rest is a pure fiction - it is the player who decides about the further fate of the conflict. The Georgia depicted in the game receives aid from the Western forces and its president, Micheil Saakashvili, decides to conduct a military operation aimed at regaining control over the territories of South Ossetia and Abkhazia. In a hypothetical war, Poland plays a major role, as a representative of NATO, together with Ukraine, blocking the Russian Black Sea fleet stationed in Sevastopol.

Graphically Confrontation: Peace Enforcement may not knock you to your knees using an engine similar to Sudden Strike, but visually, day and night scenarios, the effects of explosions or units of fighting armies are at a decent level. The faithful representation of Europe and the northern Caucasus, where fights are taking place, also deserves to be remembered. In the course of the game, in addition to "classic" battles, you can also use long-range detection systems or ABM (intercontinental ballistic missile combat). Also unmanned aircraft or corvettes equipped with anti-ship missiles - Malachit, Harpoon and Tomahawk - come to your aid.
