A Polish strategy game inspired by the popular Lemmings series. In Craftlings, we control the titular creatures as they mindlessly wander about, assigning them jobs to build a settlement and ensuring they don't die from unexpected reasons (like falling off a cliff).

Marian "Ariano" Majewski is a Pole who moved to Germany and established a one-person development studio - Ariano Games Gmbh. His first project ended up being the independently developed Craftlings - a unique two-dimensional strategy inspired by the Lemmings series, which has been in development since 2022.

Gameplay

We need to face the challenge of creating a small civilization resembling an anthill, operating in various biomes. The titular craftlings are small creatures capable of building bridges, raising chickens, transporting resources in balloons, and using elevators. However, similar to the original inspiration, they are not very intelligent.

They walk straight ahead until they encounter obstacles. If nothing blocks their path, they will fall into an abyss, and after their demise, another craftling will appear. Our task is to guide these creatures, which includes tasks like expanding the village or creating a ballista to shoot down a giant octopus.

Constructing buildings requires resources, which can be extracted using tools. Therefore, a small supply chain typical of a strategy game is necessary. Since our little creatures are not intelligent, we need to set paths for them by placing ladders, barriers, and signs with conditional arrows (acting like gates closed to holders of specific items) in appropriate places. Special mechanical lifts can be used to transport heavy loads.

Combat is present in Craftlings. Barracks allow for the training and equipping of soldiers to defeat enemies such as skeletons or dragons. However, it is important to remember that our army is economically dependent on the managed settlement.
